Computex 2017: The ASUS Vivobook S Packs a Punch and Is Very Affordable

Yup, we’re going to be seeing a slew of notebooks from Taiwanese company ASUS. We’ve already seen two very premium looking notebooks, some slimmer than the offerings from Apple — the ASUS Zenbook Flip S and the ASUS Zenbook 3 Deluxe. The third notebook to hit the stage at ASUS’ presentation is the ASUS Vivobook S; a laptop that imbibes the company’s vision to provide you with a good looking device that also packs a punch. Let’s have a look at its spec sheet.

ASUS Vivobook S Specifications

  • Up to Intel Core i7 U-series processor
  • Up to 16GB of RAM
  • NVIDIA GTX 940MX GPU
  • Full HD NanoEdge Display; 80-percent screen-to-body ratio
  • Up to 512GB of SSD Storage + 2TB HDD
  • One Touch Login with Windows Hello Support
  • Super Fast-Charging Capabilities

It has an aluminum chassis that is 17.9mm thin and weighs 1.5kgs. Open up the notebook and you’ll see its display with extremely thin bezels at 7.8mm; giving it a screen to body ratio of 80-percent.

As for its innards, the Vivobook S is packing, you guessed it, the latest Core i7 processor from Intel, up to 16GB of RAM, 512GB of SSD storage with 2TB of HDD for the rest of your files, and GeForce 940MX so you can game a bit or use it for a bit of video editing.

Battery life can be a bit of an issue for people who primarily work from their notebooks. ASUS has equipped the Vivobook S with fast-charging capabilities, meaning you’ll be spending less time tethered to a wall. The company claims that you can get 60% of juice in 49 minutes of charging, which is pretty darn good if you ask us.

You may think you’ll be paying an arm and a leg for something like this, but we think ASUS actually hit the nail on the head for the Vivobook S in terms of pricing. The ASUS Vivobook S’ pricing starts at S499 or Php 24,862 for the base model.
