Philippines Ranks 110th in The Speedtest Global Index for Mobile Internet

As the year comes to a close, The Speedtest Global Index recently revealed its overall November 2020 rankings for mobile and fixed broadband speeds. While the global download average for mobile and fixed broadband is at 45.69mbps and 91.96mbps, the Philippines still falls behind those numbers.

On Speedtest’s latest report, the Philippines’ download speeds for mobile and fixed broadband is at 18.49mbps and 28.69mbps respectively, In the index, the Philippines ranked 110 for mobile and 103 for fixed broadband out of 139 countries. While the Philippines’ ranking is very low, the good news is that the country managed to improve its rankings: it went up by 1 rank for mobile and 4 ranks for fixed broadband.

For perspective, the UAE has the fastest mobile internet speeds at 170.30mbps while Singapore takes the top spot for fixed broadband at 241.10mbps.

While it is no secret that the Philippines is still catching up in terms of internet speeds–with Pres. Rodrigo Duterte even asking telco companies to improve their services before the year ends–Smart, Globe, and upcoming third telco DITO are working hard to ensure better internet services for their customers.
