Honor Unveils its First 5G Phones with the V30 and V30 Pro

Both using the same sensor found on Huawei’s flagship phones

Honor unveiled its first 5G-enabled phones with the Honor V30 and V30 Pro. While both phones come with a Kirin 990 processor, the V30 uses one with a 7nm process and a separate Balong 5000 5G model while the V30 Pro uses a newer version with a 7nm+ process and an integrated 5G modem.

For the cameras, both phones have the same dual front camera setup housed in a pill-shaped hole on their 6.57-inch Full HD+. You get a 32-megapixel main camera and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera with a 105-degree field-of-view.

Both phones have a triple rear camera setup, led by a 40-megapixel Sony IMX600 sensor—the same sensor used for the Huawei P20 Pro, Mate 20x, Mate 30, and Mate 30 Pro. The V30 has an F/1.8 opening, while the V30 Pro uses a brighter F/1.6 opening.

While both phones have the same 8-megapixel f.2.4 telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and OIS, they differ with the third camera: the V30 uses a conventional 8-megapixel f/2.4 ultra-wide-angle camera while the V30 Pro uses a dedicated 12-megapixel f/2.2 video camera with a 16:9 aspect ratio.

Both phones get 40w Honor SuperCharge, while the V30 Pro also has 27W wireless charging. The V30 Pro has a 4100mAh battery, while the V30 gets a 4200mAh cell.
