How to port the Pixel 2 Launcher to your Non-Pixel Android Smartphone

No need to root your phone

Among the changes seen with the Google’s Pixel 2 phones is its revised UI, consisting of a Google search bar found at the bottom, and a date and weather bar on top. While the layout change can generate a mixed opinion, getting your hands on the Pixel 2 Launcher is pretty easy. The best part? You do not need to root your Android smartphone to make it look like a Pixel 2 (UI-wise, that is). All you have to do is download the APK file and install it on your phone.

As of this writing, there are three versions of the Pixel 2 launcher at XDA Developers. The first one has the bottom-placed Google search bar and the date and weather on top. The second version is modified to have Google Now (when you swipe left), and works for smartphones using Android Nougat. There’s a third version that is designed for smartphones using Android Marshmallow.

We tried using the Pixel Launcher on the Moto G5s Plus (which runs on vanilla Android Nougat), and its pretty. Check out the screenshots:
