MediaTek updates its affordable Dimensity 800 5G processor with a “U” version. This version has higher-clocked Cortex-A76 CPU cores running at 2.4Ghz, along with being one of the few 5G processors to natively support dual 5G SIM slots. That means you can use two 5G SIM cards simultaneously without being dependent on one SIM slot.
Like the vanilla Dimensity 800, the U version has 2CC carrier aggregation capabilities, along with support for Voice over New Radio (VoNR) for better voice and video calls. With its added muscle, the Dimensity 800U supports 120hz displays with HDR10+. For the GPU side, you get a Mali-G57 unit and an independent APU.
The chip is expected to be available to mid-range 5G phones in the future.
