Samsung Breaks 100-Megapixel Barrier with the ISOCELL Bright HMX

A product of their partnership with Xiaomi

Following Xiaomi’s announcement of its partnership with Samsung, the Korean brand unwrapped its latest image sensor with the ISOCELL Bright HMX. The new sensor is the first-ever mobile sensor to break the 100-megapixel barrier, sporting a 108-megapixel resolution. The 1/1.33-inch sensor sports 0.8um pixels and can output 27-megapixel images with 1.6um pixels with TetraCell technology.

The ISOCELL Bright HMX can natively shoot 6K video at 30FPS and has Smart-ISO tech for optimal ISO selection and noise reduction in both photos and videos.

Mass production for the ISOCELL Bright HMX will begin next month, which means that the Xiaomi phone sporting the said sensor—possibly the Mi MIX 4—will debut by the end of the year.
