ZenBook Flip S UX371EA Quick Review: Stunning 2-in-1

Early Verdict: The newly refreshed ZenBook Flip S UX371EA looks to be the ultimate laptop for anyone looking for a versatile device with a color-accurate display, though its high price might scare away potential buyers.

The ZenBook Flip S UX371EA is priced at Php 94,995.

Pros

  • Extremely color-accurate display
  • Powerful processor
  • Can transform into a tablet with a stylus

Cons

  • Expensive

ASUS has revamped several of their product lines, with the premium ZenBook Flip S UX371EA being the latest recipient of Intel’s brand-new 11th generation silicone.

The new laptop is one of the most premium ultra-books you can get, though you’ll be paying premium prices as well for the privilege of owning one.

Design and display

The ZenBook Flip S UX371EA inherits many of the same design features that ASUS has made standard on their premium ultrabook line, chief of which is the concentric Zen-inspired circles that are present on their other laptops.

The biggest difference between this particular model and the company’s other ZenBook Flip devices is the exclusive Jade Black colorway that’s only available on the highest-tier model ZenBook Flip S, as opposed to the Pine Grey coloration on the mid-tier models.

Aside from that, the design of the laptop is very typically ASUS – you’re getting a high-quality aluminum chassis with beveled and chamfered edges.

Overall thickness comes in at just 13.9mm, with the laptop weighing in at a scant 1.2 kilos.

One of the main differences between the ZenBook Flip S VS the lower-end models is the 13.3-inch display. This particular model utilizes an incredibly sharp, 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) touch-capable panel.

The display is also Pantone Validated, has a Vesa-certified HDR as well as TUV Rheinland certification for low Blue Light.

The ZenBook Flip S is classified as a 2-in-1, which means you can flip the display around and use it as a tablet when used in conjunction with the included ASUS Pen.

The ASUS Pen is an active stylus that has 4096 pressure level support and recognizes 10-300g of pen-tip force, allowing creatives, photographers, and artists a large degree of control when editing and creating sketches.

Keyboard and ports

The ZenBook Flip S has a fair selection of ports at the side of the chassis, though you are losing out on a 3.5mm audio jack like other ZenBook models.

To be fair ASUS does include a USB Type-C to 3.5mm adapter in the package, though the loss of the 3.5mm jack is still a little annoying, to be sure.

As for the ports themselves, you’re getting two 2 x Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports, 1 x USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A port, and a standard HDMI port.

The ZenBook Flip S also gets ASUS’ ErgoLift hinge technology that angles the keyboard up a few degrees for better writing comfort.

As for the keyboard, you’re essentially getting the same keyboard layout as the one on the non-flip ZenBook models.

The keys are a little squished, though you do get used to the key size after a few hours of typing on it.

The trackpad is large and generous and works well enough for those times you forget your portable mouse at home. Just like other ZenBook models, the trackpad transforms into a handy number pad with a simple push of a button.

Performance and storage

The ZenBook Flip S is the recipient of Intel’s brand new 11th generation chips, along with their new integrated graphics hardware.

Specifically, the ZenBook Flip S is packed with a Core i7-1165G7 processor, 16GB of soldered-on 4266 MHz LPDDR4x RAM and 1TB of PCIe NVMe storage.

Along with those impressive specs, the ZenBook Flip S also gets Intel’s new Iris Xe integral graphics solution.

Intel’s new integrated graphics give the ZenBook Flip S a boost in GPU-accelerated tasks like video and photo editing, but it’s likely not up to par for gaming beyond playing casual and competitive titles like CS:Go and Valorant.

Wrap-up and early conclusions:

People on the lookout for a versatile and premium 2-in-1 might want to check out the ZenBook Flip S UX371EA. While its price tag is steep, the display is one of the best we’ve ever seen, and if it’s as accurate as ASUS says, then there’s a strong argument for the ZenBook Flip S UX371EA as the ultimate tool for creatives everywhere.
