The First Phone with an Under-Display Camera is Coming in a Few Days

If previous teasers about the ZTE Axon 20 5G are not enough to convince you, ZTE Terminal Business Unit Head Ni Fei further confirms that their next phone will be the first commercial phone to have a true all-display, notch-free design. In a statement, Fei said that notches, water drops, and punch holes are not perfect and that pop-up cameras aren’t that reliable either.

With those things pointed out, Fei aims to solve all of that by launching the first commercial smartphone that utilizes an under-display camera beating vivo, OPPO, and Xiaomi to the punch, as those three brands only revealed their under-display camera tech at the prototype stage for now. The key feature here is a specially-made 6.92-inch Full HD+ display that has a 32-megapixel selfie snapper placed under the display, sitting behind the screen. Reports say that ZTE will be using Visonex’s tech, as the company announced that it has already started producing under-display cameras last July.

While the Axon 20 5G will have a groundbreaking display, its rumored specs point to it as a premium mid-range phone: Snapdragon 765G, up to 12GB RAM, up to 256GB storage, a 4120mAh battery with quick charging, and a quad-rear camera setup: 64-megapixel main camera, 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, and a pair of 2-megapixel depth sensors.

We should know more about ZTE’s groundbreaking phone come September 1.
