The SERES SF5 is the First Hybrid Car to be Powered by Huawei HiCar

Huawei is joining the electronic car scene in China by partnering with SERES for the latter’s SF5 hybrid SUV. The SF5 marks SERES as the first vehicle partner of Huawei for its “1+8+N” ecosystem.

Huawei Consumer Business Group CEO Richard Yu welcomes the partnership, adding that this sets a new precedent for both the consumer electronics and new energy vehicle industries. “In the future, we will not only provide leading smart car solutions to help partners build better intelligent vehicles, but also help them sell those vehicles through our retail network across China.”

Making the SERES SF5 unique is it has a DriveONE 3-in-1 electric drive system that is developed by Huawei. The said solution offers both better energy efficiency and world-class performance. In pure electric mode, the SF5 has a range of 150km, while it can go beyond 1000km in extended-range mode by utilizing both the two electric motors and the 1.5-liter engine inside it. The SF5 can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 4.68 seconds and boasts of an aluminum chassis, 4-ball joint double-wishbone front suspension, and a trapezoidal multi-link rear suspension for the best in comfort.

Huawei’s partnership with SERES involves its HiCar solution, which enables users to seamlessly switch between their mobile phone applications to the vehicle’s central control panel, giving them access to navigation. With this solution, users can interact with the SF5 by using voice control, letting them focus more on driving. In addition to that, HiCar can connect to other smart devices, giving users the access to turn on their aircon, smart TVs, and other smart devices at home. Aside from HiCar, the SERES SF5 makes use of Huawei SOUND with its custom-tuned 3D surround sound audio system consisting of 11 speakers.

As a hybrid vehicle, the SF5 has a special vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) rescue recharge mode for providing emergency power to isolated vehicles and vehicle-to-load (V2L) camping power supply mode for turning it into a large power bank of sorts in powering induction cookers, stereos, and other equipment.
