Honda has globally unveiled the 2022 BR-V. The new 7-seater small SUV features a cutting-edge style and upgraded safety.
The all-new BR-V is designed and engineered by Honda R&D Asia Pacific based on the N7X concept showcased by the Japanese automaker early this year. It comes with sleek LED headlamps upfront with integrated LED DRLs. At the rear, there are LED light guides that are similar to the fourth-generation Honda City. As for the side profile, it is very minimalistic with a contrast of large multi-spoke alloy wheels.
Since this is an all-new model, there’s a new cabin layout inside. The new model comes with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 4.2-inch TFT display in the instrument cluster, engine start/stop switch, remote lock/unlock function, and a 220-volt power inverter in the third row.
Despite being small, this SUV is big on safety. In fact, it aims to become the safest small SUV in the market. Aside from the usual Dual SRS airbags, ABS with EBD, and stability control, the top-of-the-line 2022 Honda BR-V comes with the Honda SENSING. With this, the car features a forward collision warning with automatic braking, road departure mitigation, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beam, and lane-keep assist. To further improve the safety of this car, Honda equipped it with Honda LaneWatch, a camera-based system that helps see through the car’s rear blind spot.
Powering the all-new model is the latest 1.5-liter DOHC i-VTEC engine paired to either a 6-speed manual or Earth Dreams CVT. It produces 121 horsepower at 6,800 rpm and 145 Nm at 4,300 rpm, the highest in its class. The high ground clearance of 220 mm is also retained to give the car a proper SUV look.
The 2022 Honda BR-V will be offered in four variants: S, E, Prestige, and Prestige with Honda SENSING. There are five colors available: Tafetta White, Lunar Silver Metallic, Modern Steel Metallic, Crystal Black Pearl, and Premium Opal White Pearl. Prices are yet to be revealed.
