5 Discontinued Cars in the Philippines (2021)

For a vehicle model to be deemed successful, being attractive is not enough. It has to be safe, comfortable, reliable, and more. Needless to say, it also has to outperform most of its competitors in the market. For these reasons, manufacturers have dropped several nameplates along the way. Whether manufacturers are just streamlining the product line or the model is no longer selling well, these 5 cars will no longer be in showrooms next year.

5 Discontinued Cars in the Philippines this 2021:

  • Mitsubishi Pajero
  • Nissan Patrol Super Safari
  • Honda Jazz
  • Chevrolet Trailblazer
  • Chevrolet Colorado

Discontinued Cars Philippines 2021Mitsubishi Pajero

The Mitsubishi Pajero is one of the most iconic vehicles from Mitsubishi, alongside Lancer Evolution, Eclipse, 3000GT, and more. It is also the most iconic vehicle in Dakar Rally, having the most wins in the competition up to this day.

Since 2007, the fourth and current generation Mitsubishi Pajero has remained basically the same — no major updates since its launch. This is because Mitsubishi has decided to retire the model in the Philippines, marking the last few units as the “final edition.”

Discontinued Cars Philippines 2021Nissan Patrol Super Safari

Just like its direct competitor — Mitsubishi Pajero, the Nissan Patrol Super Safari said goodbye sometime this year. To mark the end of its production line, Nissan produced 38 units of Super Safari “Legend Edition.” A variant with special additions such as a front bull bar, roof basket, tow kit, matte-black alloy wheels, B-pillar door slash, spare tire cover, and decals on the side.

Discontinued Cars Philippines 2021Honda Jazz

From the first generation up to the last, Honda Jazz found success in the Philippines. It is a model adored by many, not just by Honda enthusiasts. This is because it’s desirable, economical, and compact yet spacious.

However, Honda Philippines decided to replace this model with the all-new Honda City Hatchback. Perhaps, Honda doesn’t want to make its vehicle lineup complicated by having 2 almost identical hatchbacks.

Chevrolet Trailblazer

The Trailblazer is Chevy’s entry to the midsize SUV segment, competing with the likes of Toyota Fortuner and Mitsubishi Montero. The most notable feature of which is the 500 Nm of torque coming from a 2.8-liter Duramax diesel engine.

Unfortunately, Chevrolet had to shut down its manufacturing plant in Thailand, where the Asian-spec Colorados are made. As a result, Chevrolet dealers in nearby Asian regions were left with no choice but to drop the model.

Chevrolet Colorado

It’s not a secret that Chevy’s global small-truck offerings have traditionally been designed, engineered, and produced by Isuzu. This is why the Colorado has a reputation of being just a rebranded Isuzu D-Max in the Philippines. Nevertheless, the Colorado was also produced in Thailand, together with the Trailblazer. As expected, dealers dropped the model after the plant in Thailand ceased to operate.
