Android 13 Go Is On The Horizon: Entry Level Goodness

As we said last year, Android Go is a platform specifically developed for entry-level devices crafted to be sold en masse in emerging markets. It’s often the gateway to the full experience, but that doesn’t mean that Google isn’t paying any attention to it. In fact, things look to be quite the opposite. Let’s look at Android 13 Go, slated to be the latest successor to the Go family.

Google claims that as of now, around 250 million devices worldwide are running on Android Go. This just highlights the need for a quality software experience for users across the spectrum, from top to bottom. Android 13 Go aims to do just this.

The first revolutionary feature is the addition of Google Play System Updates. The aim here is to uphold a certain degree of reliability and security, much like the devices on the fuller version of Android. Users on Go aren’t getting the short end of the stick, whether it’s up front or in the back end. Besides bug fixes, the following areas are covered as well: Safety, Account Management, Wallet, Digital, Games, Location Services, Support, Device Connections, Utilities, and Developer Services. All the in-depth descriptions can be found here. Those who want a monthly play-by-play can also scroll through this link, proving that Google is proactive in improving its services.

Another new feature is like TikTok’s For You Page but on Android 13 Go. It curates content based on your consumption data and learns what you like in the process. As you use it more, it gets to know you better and constantly improves.

The final addition is the aesthetic inclusion of Material You design in Android 13 Go. This is the evolution of Material Design, the company’s prize jewel, and it’s aimed at placing the user in the very center of the ecosystem. Hence the “You” in its name.

“When you set your wallpaper image, you’ll see four corresponding color schemes to choose from. Besides making for a beautiful home screen, the dynamic coloring really helps make your smartphone feel unique to you.” Google is big on identity and what better way to express yourself than something you lug around everywhere: your smartphone.

Google also commits to bringing some Android 13 features over to Android 13 Go, although the full list hasn’t been revealed yet. We’re pumped to see how this unfolds!
