Apple to Hold Unleashed Event on October 18, New MacBook Pros Expected

Roughly a month after unveiling the iPhone 13 series and the all-new iPad Mini, Apple will be holding another event on October 18 called Unleashed. Judging from the teaser poster and Apple’s pattern for its yearly announcements, the Unleashed event will most likely focus on the MacBook Pros. Based on recent rumors and reports, the Unleashed event will be a significant event for Apple, as the upcoming MacBook Pros are going to have the biggest design makeover since the TouchBar era from 2017.

With the MacBook Air, Mac Mini, 13-inch MacBook Pro, 24-inch iMac, and the 2021 iPad Pros already using Apple’s in-house M1 processor, the 16-inch MacBook Pro is the best candidate for having the first major makeover in Apple’s laptops since 2017. Aside from the 16-inch MacBook Pro, there have been rumors of a 14-inch MacBook Pro coming as well, which should replace the 13-inch M1 MacBook Pro.

Both new MacBook Pros will reportedly use a next-generation M1x processor and will bring back important ports like MagSafe for charging, HDMI, and SD card reader. In addition to that, both new MacBook Pros are reportedly dropping the Touch Bar for a more traditional set of function keys. With those reported changes, it seems that Apple wants to win professionals again with the new MacBook Pro–especially with the commission of the touch bar and the addition of two of the most-used ports by creative professionals. Aside from that, the new MacBook Pros will have a higher maximum RAM at 32GB.

Aside from the new MacBook Pros, other expected announcements include the official rollout of MacOS Monterey and the unveiling of the third-generation AirPods.
