ASUS’ New ZenBook Line Gets A Massive Boost Thanks To Intel

ASUS has officially unveiled the latest variants of their ZenBook line, composed of the ZenBook Flip, ZenBook Flip S, and the ZenBook S. While these laptops have traditionally been excellent devices for general productivity tasks, they’re not much use in scenarios that require more computational tasks from both the CPU and built-in graphics. That’s changed with this generation.

The special sauce this time around is Intel’s new 11th generation chips, codenamed Tiger Lake. All three laptops are armed with the new generation chips, with the ZenBook Flip sporting the Core i5-1135G7 while the ZenBook S and ZenBook Flip S sporting the much more powerful Intel Core i7-1165G7.

What makes these processors different from the previous generation? A couple of things: the new chips feature an updated manufacturing process, as well as a new core chip design that makes them perform even better than the previous generation. Aside from performance gains, the new chips are also more power-efficient, which is why all three laptops have incredible run times off of the plug.

The biggest and most important change this time around is the better graphics delivered by Intel’s new Iris Xe integrated graphics. The new integrated graphics technology from Intel that’s present on all three new models gives the laptops a serious graphical grunt, giving the three laptops extra rendering muscle when it comes to editing videos and photos.

And while we generally don’t recommend buying these laptops to game on, Iris Xe gives enough graphical computing power that you’re able to play competitive, casual games like CS: Go and Valorant on and around 60 FPS, something that wasn’t possible with the last generation.

The rest of the hardware is top-notch too. The displays on all three new Zenbooks are really good and is accurate enough for more serious work like photo and video editing. ASUS’ ErgoLift Hinge technology is also something we’ve come to adore and makes writing and typing on the keyboard a little less stressful compared to other laptops.

ASUS has a great track record for making solid, premium devices, and the three new additions to their roster further that reputation.
