CAMPI: Brand-new Car Sales Grow in September, Toyota Gets 48% Share

The easing social and business restrictions on COVID-19 protocols helped boost the sales in September. Sales rose to 21,493 units last month pushing year-to-date numbers to 191,605 units—up 29.5 percent from the same period in 2020. Year-to-date, Passenger Car (PC) sales are up 38 percent to 60,982 units, while Light Commercial Vehicles (LCV) sales are positive 26 percent to 130,623 units.

Nevertheless, data from CAMPI show that if you compare the September sales this year to Semptember last year, it is still 12% lower. In September 2020, 24,523 units were sold.

Although we are not surprised that Toyota Motor Philippines has retained its leadership position, we are amazed that it was able to sell 92,318 units. This number translates to 48% of the whole market share.

Toyota Motor Philippines is then followed by Mitsubishi Motors Philippines in second place with 26,825 units, Ford Philippines in third with 14,696 units, Suzuki Philippines in fourth with 14,447 units, and Nissan Philippines in fifth with 14,240 units.
