Catch The Fastest E-Racers At The Toyota GR GT Cup This Friday

The ever-heated Toyota GAZOO Racing Gran Turismo Cup (GR GT Cup) is in its most interesting stages. This is a thrilling quest to find the fastest e-racers in the country and give them opportunities that have never been done by the company in the past. How does this all work?

We all know that vehicles under the Toyota GAZOO Racing umbrella are thrills to drive: from the lightning-quick A90 Supra to the undisputed AWD king of the dirt course, the GR Yaris. However, due precisely to the fact that these are special cars, not everyone will have the chance to get behind the wheel of the real deal. Well, Toyota has thought out that those who need to scratch their racing itch can do so in the virtual world instead. There are no limits, no consequences, and drivers can just focus on taking each corner as quickly as they can.

This Gran Turismo cup is in its third year and makes use of the Sony PlayStation consoles and its exclusive racing simulation counterpart, the legendary GT series. Players can strap into these virtual models and race either against the clock or against other opponents on the grid – all from the comforts of their own homes. All that’s required is the gaming system, the game itself, a stable internet connection, PlayStation Plus, and an extreme determination to win.

It’s more competitive than you think. Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has done an excellent job of mandating the points systems as well as the groundwork to make this all possible. Racers will be broken down into groups of 24, then groups of 3. The best of the best will duke it out in the national Toyota GR GT Cup Finals, then those who reign supreme as champions will represent the country in the GR GT Cup Asia.

There is also a rare opportunity at stake here. The fastest e-racers will be able to pilot the Vios Cup cars in an actual, real-life grid race. It is also a stellar opportunity to witness how simulation racing skills translate over to real-life tarmac. Sounds familiar? The Nissan GT Academy is a successful example of a similar program.

This 2nd round of Toyota GR GT Cup races will be live-streamed this May 27, 8PM, and May 28, 8PM for the leaderboard and race heats respectively. RSVP here now to get a reminder in advance and when the day comes! For more information, visit the site here.
