Google Announces Amazon Echo Competitor: Meet Google Home

Google Home

Works off of Google Assistant

With Google Assistant, the search company has a very impressive natural language virtual assistant in their hands. It’s only natural that the company build on their new tech with some hardware. That’s where Google Home comes in – this little gadget is the direct competitor to Amazon’s Echo. It’s a smart speaker that can understand you and manage everyday tasks seamlessly, able to connect to TVs, phones and even other speakers around your house.

Because Google Home is connected to Google’s Assistant, it’s able to take questions about almost anything around you, and with time, can probably even manage the lights, airconditioning and other elements in your house via add-ons since it functions essentially as an IoT hub. The device will launch later this year (in the US at least) and Google says it’s opening it up to third-party devs and device makers to further improve its functionality.
