The former Senator has a lot of things to do

Almost seven months after Senator Tito Sotto confirmed the changes in DICT, Gringo Honasan formally took his oath as the new head of the Department of Information and Communications Technology. The oath-taking took place at Malacanang Palace yesterday before the start of the July Cabinet meeting.

Taking over former DICT officer-in-charge Eliseo Rio, Honasan has a lot of things to do as the DICT head. Among these include ensuring the full rollout of the country’s national fiber network and the full operation of the country’s third telco player.

On top of these two important projects, Honasan will also be working on addressing the country’s data privacy and security concerns. “We are confident that Secretary Honasan would perform well in his new assignment as chief of the DICT,” Presidential spokesperson Salvador Panelo said in a statement.
