Instagram Brings Back Chronological Feed Option

After clamor for users to have an option to view their feed chronologically, Instagram recently brought back the chronological feed option in its latest update.

In the new update, the Instagram logo now has a toggle that allows you to switch between Following and Favorites. Following gives you a chronological feed based on who you follow on Instagram, while Favorites allows you to select up to 50 users that will be highlighted on your feed—also arranged chronologically.

Users can use Following and Favorites once they have updated their Instagram app to the latest version.

This development is a much-welcome change especially to those who do not like the current algorithm-based feed format of Instagram. However, the current iteration of the app does not allow you to use a chronological-based feed—at least for now.

Despite the limitations for the meantime, Meta is still open into improving the Favorites and Following features to best suit the needs of its users.

“We’re always working on new ways to improve your Instagram experience. We’ll continue to build features like Favorites and Following to give you more choice and control over what you see, and help make the time you spend on the app feel more intentional,” Meta said in its press release.
