Mazda said the 2022 CX-5 is all about better driving dynamics that their customers value. This is why the new model isn’t only about visual updates, but also mechanical changes.

Outside, it’s more elegant looking than the outgoing model. This new appearance is highlighted by updated front and rear ends with a sleeker surface. The headlights, as well as the taillights, have undergone significant design changes, each lamp now features a pair of horizontally spaced rectangular LED lights. The grille is now more prominent due to a new signature wing that extends outward. To further improve the refined and prominent look, Mazda added a new set of aluminum alloy wheels.

Although the interior has been carried over, this is not an issue as this interior still looks fresh and top-notch. Mazda just added a wireless charger for the new model. However, the interior is made smoother and quieter as enhancements to the new CX-5 include better suspension with a more rigid frame. Meaning, there will be less noise, vibration, and harshness.

Aside from the improved ride quality, the new CX-5 also features better driving dynamics. It has new seats that are said to be more supportive, and there’s now a wider selection of Mazda Intelligent Drive Select (MI-Drive). A feature that enables the driver to select the most appropriate drive mode to optimize driving capability with one touch of a switch.

Furthermore, it might not be possible to order the 2022 Mazda CX-5 with front-wheel drive. Just like in the North American and European markets, every version now comes standard with Mazda’s i-Activ all-wheel-drive system. Also in the said markets, the engine is either a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter inline-four-cylinder base engine or a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-pot.

There is no official announcement from the Mazda Philippines yet, although we can expect it in the last quarter of this year according to reports.
