Sky Opens AlterNet Back-up Internet Plan to Non-Sky Users

Sky Opens AlterNet Back-up Internet Plan to Non-Sky Users

With all of us being dependent on the internet, it is important to have a fast and stable connection. However, it is not 100% guaranteed that we get a reliable connection especially at times when you need it the most. While subscribing to your phone’s data plan is a viable plan B, it is not a practical option.

And if resorting to adding another postpaid internet service provider is not cost-effective, Sky Fiber is making its AlterNet plan available to non-Sky subscribers.

Unlike your typical broadband internet plan, AlterNet serves as a backup service in case you encounter problems with your internet service provider. Pricing for AlterNet is competitive: plans start at Php 199 for an unlimited  1.5Mbps connection—which should be enough for email and social media. If that’s not enough, you can opt for 25Mbps, 50Mbps, or 100Mbps starting at Php 249 for 5 days or Php 699 for 15 days.

Do note that 1) the service is currently available at Metro Manila, Rizal, Cavite, Laguna, Bulacan, Cebu & Davao, and 2) you will need to pay a Php 2,799 one-time installation fee for the high-speed modem.

If you are looking for other backup internet options, you might want to consider Smart’s new LTE-A pocket WiFi, which can deliver average speeds of 26Mbps in case you really, really need a decent back-up connection that you can bring along wherever you go (once it is deemed safe to do so).
