Realme C12 Quick Review Philippines: Budget Middle Child

Realme has come out with multiple smartphones in the past few weeks, and today they’re adding yet another device to the mix. Their new Realme C12 smartphone is the latest addition to the brand’s burgeoning budget smartphone lineup, and is the middle child of the C-series trio, right between the Realme C11 and the C15. How does their new phone stack up against the existing line? Find out in our quick review of the Realme C12:

A design that’s near-identical to the Realme C15

If you’ve seen our Realme C15 review and unboxing, you have a good idea what to expect from the Realme C12. They’re essentially the same phone, except for a few key differences.

The Realme C12 lacks the 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera that’s on the C15, opting instead for a 3-camera setup on the rear, composed of a 13-megapixel F/2.2 main camera, a 2-megapixel depth camera, and a 2-megapixel mono camera.

As for the design, the Realme C12 is virtually identical to the C15. It sports the same textured plastic body and frame as its more expensive brother and also sports a fingerprint sensor on the rear for biometric unlocks. The Realme C12 also gets the new Coral Red colorway as well to make it a little different from its more expensive brother.

The displays are also identical, with the Realme C12 still sporting a 6.5-inch HD+ display with a dewdrop notch. The C12 gets a lower-resolution front camera compared to the C15 though, settling for a 5-megapixel unit, instead of the 8-megapixel one on the more expensive variant.

All three C-series models that Realme has so far released this year use MediaTek’s new Helio G35 processor, though internally their RAM and storage vary depending on the model. The Realme C12 gets a 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage along with a dedicated microSD expansion slot, which should give it more storage space if you need it.

Big batteries are what the C series phones are about, and the Realme C12 has the same massive 6000mAh battery that’s on the C15. While we haven’t really tested the Realme C12’s battery performance, we expect it to get the same insane 19 hours and 19-minute endurance on PCMark’s battery benchmark as its bigger brother, since they both share the same battery capacity, processor and display. The Realme C12 also doesn’t have the 18W fast charging capability that the C15 has.

Like the Realme C15, the Realme C12 has Android 10 on top of Realme UI, which has to be one of the cleanest implementations of a UI we’ve seen so far.

The Realme C12 retails for Php 5,990, which is just a few hundred pesos off the price of the Realme C15. It’s obvious that Realme’s trying to cover the entire budget smartphone range from Php 5K up to the Php 7K price bracket, though users may get confused at the incredibly close pricing for the trio of phones.
