Samsung Announces Galaxy A22 5G and 4G in Europe

As a slightly better offering than the Galaxy A32 5G announced earlier this year, Samsung follows it up with the Galaxy A22 5G. Aside from being more affordable than the Galaxy A32 5G, the Galaxy A22 5G is slightly better in some key areas.

Aside from the 5G variant, there’s also a 4G version that was announced as well.

Samsung Galaxy A22 5G Specs:

  • Dimensity 700 processor
  • 4GB/6GB/8GB RAM
  • 64GB/128GB storage, expandable via MicroSD
  • 6.6-inch Full HD+ LCD Infinity-O Display, 90hz refresh rate
  • 48-megapixel f/1.8 main camera with PDAF, 5-megapixel f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle camera, 2-megapixel f/2.4 depth sensor
  • 8-megapixel f/2.2 selfie camera
  • 4G, LTE, 5G
  • WiFi, Bluetooth, Side-mounted fingerprint scanner
  • 5000mAh battery
  • 15w charging
  • Android 11, OneUI 3.1

Samsung Galaxy A22 4G Specs:

  • Helio G80 processor
  • 4GB/6GB RAM
  • 64GB/128GB storage, expandable via MicroSD
  • 6.4-inch HD+ Super AMOLED Display, 90hz refresh rate
  • 48-megapixel f/1.8 main camera with PDAF and OIS, 8-megapixel f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle camera, 2-megapixel f/2.4 depth sensor, 2-megapixel f/2.2 macro camera
  • 13-megapixel f/2.2 selfie camera
  • 4G, LTE
  • WiFi, Bluetooth, Side-mounted fingerprint scanner
  • 5000mAh battery
  • 15w charging
  • Android 11, OneUI 3.1

The Galaxy A22 5G is powered by a Dimensity 700 processor that is paired with up to 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage (that is expandable) depending on the region. It gets a better display than the Galaxy A32 5G in the form of a 6.6-inch Full HD+ LCD display with a 90hz refesh rate–though the selfie snapper is slightly downgraded to 8-megapixels.

Going to the rear camera setup, the Galaxy A22 5G settles for a triple rear camera setup, ditching the macro camera and downgrading the ultra-wide-angle camera to 5-megapixels. Like the Galaxy A32 5G, you also get a 5000mAh battery with 15w charging, along with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

On the other hand, the Galaxy A22 4G is powered by a Helio G80 processor that is paired with up to 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage (that is not expandable). While you get a smaller HD+ display on the 4G version, the tradeoff here is that you have an AMOLED panel–and still retain the 90hz refresh rate.

As for the cameras, the Galaxy A22 4G shares the same front and rear cameras as the Galaxy A32 5G, though the main camera has OIS.

Samsung Galaxy A22 5G, 4G Price

While Samsung did not reveal the price for the Galaxy A22 4G, the 5G will be available in select regions in July at 230 Euros(~Php 13.4k) for the 64GB variant.
