It has been a good two years since DJI debuted its first action camera with the Osmo Action. For 2021, DJI is giving a full makeover to it with the Action 2. Instead of a form factor that is reminiscent of GoPro cameras, the Action 2 goes for a modular, square design with a body that is made of aluminum alloy.
Aside from having a 1/1.7-inch, 12-megapixel sensor with a f/2.8 lens, the Action 2 has a 1.76-inch touchscreen with a 446×424 resolution, a 580mAh internal battery, and 32GB internal storage. The Action 2 can shoot 4K video at up to 120FPS in 16:9 and up to 60FPS in 4:3, with a maximum bitrate of 130Mbps. For slo-mo footage, the Action 2 can shoot up to 240FPS in Full HD 16:9.
With its modular design, the Action 2 can be configured according to the user’s needs. The Front Touchscreen module adds another display, 4 microphones, an SD card slot, USB-C port, and a 1300mAh battery. If you only need extra power, the power module has a 1300mAh battery to give you up to 180 minutes of recording time.
Mounting accessories include a Magnetic Adapter Mount, Magnetic Ball-Joint Adapter Mount, Magnetic Headband Mount, and Magnetic Lanyard Mount. For added versatility, there are other accessories like a waterproof case to keep the Action 2 waterproof at up to 60m, a Macro lens attachment for close-up shots, an extension rod with remote control, and a floating handle.
If you are serious about audio, there’s a DJI Mic accessory that consists of two wireless mics and a receiver. They work at up to a 250m range, and the receiver has a touchscreen for easy monitoring of audio levels.
The DJI Action 2 is priced at Php 23,990 for the power combo and Php 29,990 for the dual-screen combo in the Philippines. It is available for order at Henry’s Cameras.
