The Latest Nothing Phone (1) Update Fixes Its Camera And Stutter Issues

We reviewed the Nothing Phone (1) when it was still hot off the press at the end of last month. The device was quirky, unique, and obviously had the hype train of Carl Pei following right behind it. Despite this though, its spec sheet wasn’t so impressive for its starting price at almost PHP 28K. Well, an update now aims to address the Nothing Phone (1) and its more glaring issues, especially with optics. Here’s the scoop with update 1.1.3.

The most obvious change to camera performance is something we also noticed in our review. Colors are handled differently by the main and ultrawide sensors, which sort of fool us into thinking they’re shots taken on entirely different devices. The ultrawide photos are a bit duller. Nothing has fixed this by adding a bit of saturation to the image processing over software tweaks.

Other improvements include quicker Night Mode shots, which play a vital role in low-light photography. It takes time and intelligent technology in order to grasp as much light in a shot without blowing the scene out of proportion. HDR capabilities have also been enhanced to better embody those vivid scenes in photos. As expected, the front camera gets some love as well with resolution fixes.

Apart from that, stutters with applications such as Twitter and the like have been addressed through further optimization. Glitches with the notifications and hotspot settings are also going to disappear in favor of a smoother experience for Nothing Phone (1) owners after the update. After all, the mobile device’s Snapdragon 778G processor should have no issues dealing with these everyday tasks.

The Nothing Phone (1) remains to be a captivating option for those who want to stray away from the Android mainstream. We are optimistic that the brand will continue to improve upon and innovate its maiden smartphone.
