The New HyperX Cloud Alpha Wireless Boasts 300-Hour Battery Life

Nope, that isn’t a typo. CES 2022 saw gaming peripheral company HyperX bring out the wireless version of their famous Cloud Alpha gaming headset, with a whopping 300 hours of battery life.

Many people already know and have experienced firsthand the wired Cloud Alpha’s impressive performance. The Wireless comes equipped with the same 50mm dual-chamber drivers to create separation between mids and the bass. This is a feature seen on many enthusiast-level pieces of audio gear. There are other notable upgrades over the wired version though, like support for DTS Headphone X surround sound, replaceable earpads, and an overall lighter design for comfort over prolonged gaming sessions.

Now, for the big hitter: the battery life. Based on Gizmodo’s report, HyperX really did make a claim of 300 hours. This triples the current record-holding Sennheiser GSP 370 at 100 hours which is already extremely impressive. If you’ve come to the conclusion that they’ve strapped power banks onto the headphone or that the 300 hours is on standby with no music playing, think again – the same report confirms a statement of HyperX: they have contracted a third-party tester to verify these seemingly impossible claims, with the headset at 50% volume.

How the HyperX Cloud Alpha Wireless remains hyper-efficient on its 1,500 mAh battery still boggles my mind, but we’ll see upon release and testing if those numbers are too good to be true.
