The nubia Pad 3D Is A Flagship Tablet…. With A Snapdragon 888?

We still remember when 3D technology used to be perceived as the next big thing with TVs and portable devices. However, early renditions like the HTC Evo 3D did not have access to appropriate hardware to bring the experience to a level that could justify its steep asking price. With the trend pretty much dead, will this ZTE nubia Pad 3D Tablet bring it back to its former glory?

The ZTE nubia Pad 3D is the company’s latest flagship tablet. It features a 12.4-inch 2560×1600 resolution LCD display with a refresh rate of 120Hz. Inside the system is 2021’s flagship chipset, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 which is still more than powerful enough for today’s demands. This can be specced with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of onboard storage, expandable via microSD card slot. You can save lots of pictures taken by the rear 16-megapixel cameras or the front 8-megapixel ones.

Software onboard is Android 13 and the 9070 mAh battery can be topped up speedily by a 33W charger. That sounds very optimistic! Perhaps it’s going to revolutionize the midrange space, or the upper midrange / pseudo-flagship segment. But it’s not. At a starting price of $1,199, it’s admittedly a little pricey for what you’re getting.

But that’s before we’ve gotten to its selling point, onboard 3D functionality. Not only can you view 3D content without the use of glasses or special eyewear, but you can also produce your own as well with the onboard optics. The chipset can handle real-time 2D to 3D processing; something previous generation iterations of this tech could only have dreamed of. This allows for a different level of immersion, although we’re not sure how well the feature works yet. Whether it’s just a gimmick or an actual game-changer is something we’ll discover down the line.
