The Upcoming Xiaomi Mini PC Is Cool, But Looks A Bit…. Familiar

Alongside launching its much-awaited 13 smartphone lineup, Xiaomi has also unveiled the Mini PC. We’ve been hearing rumors for a while now so it’s awesome to see these plans come to fruition. Now that it’s here, it’s definitely looking like an awesome prospect for a lot of users with portable or tinier setups. However, we can’t deny that it looks nearly identical to a popular rival out there… the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree after all.

As the company’s first venture into the space, the Xiaomi Mini PC is packing some power. The brand boasts a 12th-generation Intel Core i5-1240P processor with a maximum turbo clock speed of 4.4GHz. Providing the graphical oomph is an Intel Iris Xe integrated GPU that should allow for most everyday activities and processing. Keeping these internals within a reasonable operating temperature is a fan that can spin up to 4600RPM and a dual heat pipe dissipation system.

The base model will come with 16GB of 3200MHz DDR4 RAM and 512GB of PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD storage. These can be expanded to 32GB and 4TB respectively, depending on the user’s unique needs. Ports onboard include two HDMI 2.1 interfaces, a 2.5G network port, three USB 3.0 Gen2 ports, a standard USB 2.0 slot, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and others. Wireless options are cutting-edge WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3 technologies.

All this fits on a frame that’s just 112mm x 112 mm x 38mm in dimensions and 437g on the scale, totaling a volume of 0.44 liters. The Xiaomi Mini PC will run Windows 11 out of the box.

This is all well and cool, and many have their eyes set on buying the Xiaomi Mini PC once it hits market shelves. If we were to comment though… it looks quite like the Apple Mac Mini. They do say there is no true “original design” in this day and age, so we have nothing against the obvious design inspiration.

At a starting price of around $530 USD in China, it undercuts the M1 Mac Mini’s starting price of $699 by a margin of above a hundred dollars. Let’s not forget that the Apple version starts with only half the SSD storage in its base configuration. Considering this fact, what do you find the better deal? Would you actually move over to the Windows side for this? Let us know!
