As usual, Toyota revealed very few details about its newest GR model. It didn’t even name it and provided just two official photos. Fortunately, the internet is such a dependable place for leaks and rumors.

The 2023 GR Corolla is expected to have the same engine as the GR Yaris. It’s the turbocharged 1.6-liter 3-cylinder engine that produces 261 horsepower and 360 Nm of torque. Moreover, there should be a 6-speed manual transmission, in addition to an 8-speed automatic transmission. It will also come with a WRC-developed GR-Four all-wheel-drive system with optional Torsen limited slip differentials fitted to both its front and rear axles.

Having said all that, the GR Corolla is totally different from the regular Corolla. Even the design is totally apart as it features a more aggressive-looking front end, rear end, and bespoke alloy wheel design.

The new GR model will provide Toyota with a direct rival to the Subaru WRX, Honda Civic Type R, and Volkswagen Golf GTI. However, only the US market is sure to get the new GR model for now.
