Uber Is Looking To Hike Prices Up To 110 Percent For uberX

It’s fare adjustments related to the TRAIN law

Following the petitions of other transport groups and fellow ride-sharing app Grab, Uber is now asking the government to approve its fare hike for uberX fares.

Uber wants to increas the fare per kilometer price of uberX rides to about 58% to 110% depending on the time of day. Under their petition, the fare per KM would go up to Php 9 to Php 12 from the current Php 5.70 per KM charge that they use now.

Uber explains that the change will cover the costs of maintenance for the cars of their partner drivers, as well as the new excise taxes on petroleum.

“The costs that driver-partners have to bear to maintain their vehicles is projected to increase due to several factors, including requirements under the Omnibus Franchising Guidelines to further improve safety and quality of service, increasing fuel prices, and new excise taxes on petroleum,” Uber Philippines said.

Grab earlier petitioned the LTFRB to increase fares for their partner drivers to mitigate the impacts of the TRAIN law. According to the LTFRB, the earliest anyone can expect a decision for fare hikes would be on March this year.
