While TECNO already has a top-end smartphone with the Phantom X, the brand is set to announce the Camon 18 soon. In fact, TECNO teased that the Camon 18 will have a gimbal camera system for smoother video footage.
TECNO also revealed the back panel design of the Camon 18 on their Instagram page as well, where it highlights a triple rear camera setup, a glass back, and two color options. Upon closer inspection, we spot a periscope camera, which should be better than the 2x telephoto camera found on the Phantom X. The gimbal camera appears to be in the middle, with the accent ring on the camera module identifying it.
According to leaks, the periscope camera of the TECNO Camon 18 is capable of up to 60x digital zoom, which will give the Infinix Zero X Pro a run for its money. The text beside the three cameras read that the triple rear camera setup will have a 16-135mm focal length equivalent and a f/1.6 (main camera)-3.5 (periscope camera) aperture range.
Other rumored specs of the Camon 18 include a 6.4-inch Full HD+ display with a punch-hole, a Helio G96 processor, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and Android 11-based HiOS 7.6 out of the box. As for the latter, there might be a chance that the Camon 18 will come with Android 12 or receive it via OTA at a later date.
The Camon 18 is expected to go official soon, as TECNO Nigeria’s Instagram account has been teasing a number of the phone’s key specs.
