ASUS Announces ROG Strix GL502 Gaming Notebook

ASUS ROG Strix GL502

The first Strix notebook?

The Republic of Gamers sub-brand for ASUS is well known for its gaming notebooks, but apparently the Taiwanese company is infusing another brand to its legendary IP. The new ASUS ROG Strix GL502 combines both the ROG and Strix sub-brands of the company, resulting in a slightly confusing naming and branding exercise.

ASUS ROG Strix GL502 Specs

Despite that, the ROG Strix GL502 is the first notebook under the Strix lineup, and will sport impressive hardware: Intel’s newest generation Skylake processors up to Core i7, up to a discrete GeForce GTX 980M GPU and up to 16GB of RAM. The 15.6-inch IPS display can be had in either full HD or QHD resolution and can be fitted out with up to 512GB of SSD storage, though it can also be bought with a traditional HDD up to 2TB.

Those specs come in a chassis that’s only 23.5mm thick and weighs just 2.2 kilos. There’s plenty of connectivity options, which include HDMI, mini DisplayPort, USB Type-C, 3 USB 3.0 ports, Bluetooth and WiFi.
