ASUS’ New ZenBook Pro Has A Touchscreen Display For A Touchpad

It’s not even a gaming PC

ASUS has refreshed their Zenbook Pro notebook during COMPUTEX today. Aside from the expected processor refresh and a swanky looking exterior, the two versions of their newest notebook sport a surprising new feature: a 5.5-inch IPS touchpad that doubles as a secondary screen.

ASUS swapped out the mundane, boring looking trackpad for a 5.5-inch color IPS display that can double as a secondary display. You can extend your screen to the smaller display, use it as toolbox of sorts for easier access to shortcuts, as well as assign a different function to the ScreenPad (as ASUS is calling it) like a calculator. ASUS is working on getting more ScreenPad apps from the Windows store to extend functionality so the new feature doesn’t end up as being just a clever gimmick.

The 15.6-inch model gets a 4K UHD touchscreen that has 100% Adobe RGB coverage, 8th Gen Intel Core i9 hexa-core processor, along with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti GPU, up to 16GB of 2400MHz DDR4 RAM, up to 1TB of PCIe SSD storage, plus a fingerprint sensor and Thunderbolt 3 support. The smaller 14-inch version gets a full HD touchscreen display, 8th generation Intel Core i7 processor , NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Max-Q, up to up to 16GB of 2400MHz DDR4 RAM, up to 1TB of PCIe SSD storage and an IR camera.

Here are the prices for each of the variants of the new Zenbook Pro

The 15-inch version of the New Zenbook Pro 15 should be available in all Asus Concept Stores this month, June 2018, with the Zenbook Pro 14 to follow very soon.
