As we predicted, its quite pricey

Today is the official launch of ASUS’ Tango-enabled, Daydream-certified ZenFone AR in the country. If you haven’t been following our stories on the new phone, the ZenFone AR is one of the two phones in the world that has Google’s improved augmented reality platform, Tango. It’s also one of the few phones currently out in the market that is Daydream certified.

Zenfone AR Specifications

While we reviewed the 6GB/64GB version of the ZenFone AR, ASUS Philippines will be selling the 8GB/128GB version of the phone when it hits the market on July 2017. Aside from the tri-cam system that makes the Tango magic work, the ZenFone AR is also equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 821 processor, and sports a premium-looking leather body.

ASUS is pricing the ZenFone AR at Php 44,995, which makes it quite pricey compared to the other products out in the market today. That spiffy Google Daydream View headset is not included.

The price of the ZenFone AR puts it out of reach of most people today, but in truth it’s not really a phone for the regular Joe. The enthusiast nature of Project Tango makes the AR attractive to a very small group of people, primarily developers looking for a speedy phone to test AR apps on.
