ASUS ROG Unveils 2nd-Generation Strix Scar and Hero Gaming Laptops

Now with gaming-grade, skinny-bezelled displays

Aside from the much-awaited ROG Phone, ASUS ROG unveiled its 2nd-generation ROG Strix Scar and Hero gaming laptops during the For Those Who Dare press event at Computex 2018.

Key design changes for both models include a 144Hz super narrow bezel display with 3ms response time and a front light bar that is customizable via Aura Sync. In addition, the ROG Strix Scar II and Hero II come with a desktop-inspired HyperStrike Pro gaming keyboard for improved control, and HyperCool Pro technology to cool their high-performance CPU and GPU.

As gaming-oriented laptops, both models get a major WiFi connectivity upgrade: They are the first laptops to sport a multi-antenna WiFi for improved connectivity. To make the most of this new tech, both the ROG Strix Scar II and Hero II come with ROG RangeBoost technology—a patented software that makes use of both laptop’s four WiFi antennas and determines the best pair of antennas to cover dead spots. This results in 30% better connectivity compared to dual-antenna configurations.

Powering both the ROG Strix Scar II and Hero II is an 8th-Generation Intel Core i7-8750H processor with up to 32GB DDR4 RAM, and either a GTX 1060 or GTX 1070 GPU. For storage options, both laptops offer a 512GB M.2 NVMe PCIe 3.0 x4 and a 1TB Seagate® FireCuda solid-state hybrid drive (SSHD).

The ROG Strix Scar II and Hero II will be available by Q2 2018 and will retail for Php 129,995 and Php 104,995 respectively.
