Quad-core, 7-inch slate

Cherry Mobile has just made their newest tablet, the Superion Core official at their Facebook page earlier. The new tablet features a quad-core MediaTek MTK 8389 processor running at 1.2GHz, 1GB of RAM and a 7-inch capacitive HD IPS display. The Superion Core is priced pretty competitively, at only Php 6,499.

From the pictures posted in Cherry Mobile’s Facebook announcement, the Superion Core looks to have a premium metal back, or at least a silver backing. It also has phone capabilities as well, enough that Cherry Mobile is calling it a phablet. We don’t know if we’d want to hold something that big on our ear when we’re making calls, but it’s nice that you have the option to do so if you wished, hehe. Aside from the quad-core processor, the Cherry Mobile Superion Core also uses a PowerVR SGX544 GPU, the same GPU that powers the Octa-core version of Samsung’s Galaxy S IV. It’s important to note though that the SGX544 comes in variety of configurations, so the Superion Core might get the lowest tier of the SGX544 processor family. But even so, the addition of a high powered GPU is a boon to fans of graphically intense Android games everywhere.

The Cherry Mobile Superion Core is now available at Cherry Mobile stores.
