Notice anything weird with your new Flare X lately?

Some new Flare X buyers have been complaining lately that the Flare X smartphones that they got from Cherry Mobile had downgraded chips, running at 1.3GHz instead of 1.7GHz. Well, we’re here to clear up the confusion. Apparently Cherry Mobile has replaced the chipsets in the Flare X because the MT6752 chipsets were becoming harder and harder to source since most companies have moved on to the MT6753 SoC. One bright spot for the processor change is that Lollipop is now on board the new Flare X.

In short, supply problems and high demand for the Flare X forced the company to switch from the MT6752 SoC to the MT6753. We’ve confirmed with the company that aside from the processor change and update to Lollipop, nothing inside the Flare X has been changed, which includes the RAM and display resolution. Cherry Mobile will still be coming out with a lower priced, lower spec’d version of the Flare X, but for now the new Flare X smartphones that are being sold only has its SoC changed – everything else is still the same.
