Cherry Mobile has done it again! The company had just officially unveiled their newest LTE smartphone, the Ultra. Just like their first ever LTE smartphone, the W900 LTE, the Ultra uses a Qualcomm SoC, in the form of the MSM8926 chip.

Cherry Mobile has definitely struck big with the Ultra. The phone feels fantastic in the hand, even though it’s mainly built out of plastic. The plastic chin on the bottom reminds us of the Blackberry Z10. The rounded countours of the back make it comfortable to hold. More importantly the chip used in the Ultra is made by Qualcomm, a company that has been making LTE chips for a long time. Qualcomm hinted that they’ll be making a bigger push into local devices when we interviewed them a few months ago, and it seems that the company is making good on that promise.
Now that Cherry Mobile unveiled their next generation of LTE powered smartphones, will its rivals in the local market step up to the challenge?
