Fujifilm Just Made a Supersized X100VI with the GFX100RF

Following the hype that the X100VI generated last year, Fujifilm doubled down on its popular fixed-lens camera by introducing its bigger sibling with the GFX100RF. The new camera is a first from Fujifilm, as it is a medium-format camera with a rangefinder-style body and a fixed Fujinon 35mm f/4 lens that has a full-frame equivalent of 28mm.

Inside the GFX100RF is a 102-megapixel CMOS II sensor that’s paired with the X-Processor 5, giving it the latest AI technology for subject detection, high-speed, and high-precision AF functions. Having the same design language as the well-revered X100VI, the GFX100RF has a top plate that’s cut from aluminum, with the same process done with the lens ring, dials, bottom plate, and other small parts. It’s the first time Fujifilm has done such a process, and the result is a tweaked design that enhances the metal texture when users hold the camera. Despite being a medium-format camera, the GFX100RF is the lightest in its class, weighing only 735 grams.

Aside from the analog dials that make it a bonafide Fujifilm camera, the GFX100RF has two extra dials: one for adjusting aspect ratio, and another for the digital teleconverter feature that allows you to shoot in 45mm (36mm in 35mm format), 63mm (50mm in 35mm format), and 80mm (63mm in 35mm format).

Aside from the EVF, you also get a  3.15-inch 2.1-megapixel 2-axis tilt LCD to help you with framing your shots, along with a built-in 4-stop ND filter. While it is a stills-first camera, the GFX100RF can shoot 4K30P video in 4:2:2 10-bit, along with an option to shoot in F-Log2 for flexible color grading in post-production.

The GFX100RF is priced at Php 319,990 and those who will preorder from March 20 to April 15 will get an additional NP-W235 battery.
