Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S9 Receiving January 2019 Security Patch

Props to Samsung

While it may not be Android Pie, Samsung is making an effort in updating its flagship phones with the latest security patch.

Those who own the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S9 should be receiving the January 2019 security patch in the coming weeks. In addition, the update for the Galaxy S9 also improves selfies taken with the front camera.

Don’t expect the Galaxy S7 to receive Android Pie: the 2016 flagship phone shipped with Marshmallow when it came out back then, and has received Nougat and Oreo already. Since the Galaxy S7 has already received two major Android builds, expect Samsung to roll out security updates for the three-year-old flagship.
