The Galaxy Z Fold6 is Samsung being another step closer to perfection–despite the competition having foldable phones that are significantly thinner. In Samsung’s pursuit of perfection, the Galaxy Z Fold6 has the same cameras used on the Z Fold5.

While many would argue that camera performance will be the same, DxOMark says otherwise: with an overall score of 133, the Galaxy Z Fold6 ties with the Pixel Fold as having thd best cameras on a foldable device. For comparision, the Galaxy Z Fold5 had an overall score of 128, which is an improvement by 5 points for Samsung’s latest foldable.
You’d probably wonder: how come the Galaxy Z Fold6 scored higher than its predecessor despite using the same set of cameras? Aside from using a newer Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, DxOMark explained that Samsung managed to maximize the cameras, with slight improvements on the Galaxy Z Fold6’s main camera and a significant improvement in its 3x telephoto camera–now being the best in a foldable device.
The same can be said with the Galaxy Z Fold6’s video recording capabilities, where DxOMark noticed improvements in exposure, color and autofocus performance.
While the Galaxy Z Fold6 has the best set of cameras on a foldable device, it is at par with Apple’s iPhone 14 and 14 Plus–both being 2022 flagships. Despite that, the Galaxy Z Fold6’s camera performance shows that foldable devices are catching up with bar-type phones–soon enough, we might see a foldable device with cameras that are as good (or better) than the latest bar-type premium flagship phone.
