GoPro has been teasing the release of a couple of new products for a couple of weeks now and even had a minor boo-boo with its Italian site that listed their new quadcopter drone, the Karma, prematurely. The Hero5 Black, of course, will have more features than the Session and a slightly higher megapixel count that sits at 12-MP and will shoot videos at higher frame rates with 4K video at 30fps, 1440 at 80fps, and 1080 at 120fps for those silky smooth slow-motion shots to capture your thrills and/or spills. The GoPro Hero5 Black also has a 2-inch touch display, RAW support, and built-in GPS; yes, folks — the rumors were true. The GoPro Hero5 will also feature a slightly larger battery capacity that sits at 1220 mAh.

The Hero5 Session may be smaller and lack its bigger siblings touch display, RAW support, and GPS — but it certainly can hold its own. The Hero5 Session has a 10-MP camera that shoots 4K video at 30fps, 1440 at 60fps, and 1080 at 90fps; not bat at all.

Both members of the GoPro Hero5 family are now natively waterproof up to a depth of 10-meters, which means you no longer have to use the housing in order to take it out for a swim. They’ll also have electronic image stabilization, simple one touch operation, and voice commands, so you don’t have to fiddle with the controls while on your board or bike. One of the newest features that GoPro is pushing with the Hero5 line is its cloud feature that lets you automatically upload all your content to their servers, but there is a $5 subscription fee to use this service.
