HarmonyOS Beta to Launch on December 18

More than a year since announcing its own operating system, developers will be able to get their hands on the beta version of Hongmeng OS 2.0 (HarmonyOS in China) on December 18. This means that it will be a matter of time before users will be able to use HarmonyOS on their eligible Huawei and HONOR devices.

If Huawei’s timeline is to be followed, users will be able to test HarmonyOS by February 2021. Which Huawei and HONOR devices are eligible for HarmonyOS? Here’s a partial list, which includes upcoming phones like the Nova 8 series and HONOR V40:

Asked on how HarmonyOS will replace EMUI, which is based on Android, Huawei Consumer Business Group Software Development head Wang Chenglu said that EMUI 11 already uses the same framework as HongMeng, which should make the transition easy.
