HMD Global Announces The Nokia 5.1

The phone marks the debut of the Helio P18

HMD Global unveiled an updated version of their Nokia 5 at an event in Moscow earlier today. The new phone, dubbed the Nokia 5.1, sports a 5.5-inch, 18:9 FHD+ IPS display alongside a brand-spanking new processor made by MediaTek, the P18.

The octa-core processor goes up to 2.0GHz, and is paired with a Mali T720 MP3 GPU along with a choice of either 2GB/3GB of RAM and 16GB/32GB of expandable storage. There’s a 16-megapixel rear camera on the rear, complimented by a 8-megapixel front camera.

There’s also a fingerprint scanner, and a large 2970mAh battery. True to form the Nokia 5.1 is part of the Android One program and will be receiving two Android updates and three year’s worth of security patches.

The phone starts at $189 or around 9.9K for the 2GB variant, while the higher spec 3GB variant is a little more, at $219 or Php 11.5K.
