When HMD announced the Skyline in Europe, people like how its design reminds us of older Nokia phones like the N8, and how it is user-repairable with key components like the battery and display being repairable. However, some are turned off by the $499 (~Php 30k) asking price for the HMD Skyline, which only uses a Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 processor.
However, a report from NokiaMob mentions that the HMD Skyline is coming to the Philippines, and its price will allegedly be lower than European pricing. Its source mentions that the suggested retail price is anywhere between Php 22,990 (which we presume is for the 8GB/128GB variant) and Php 25,990 (which we speculate will be the 12GB/256GB version).
While some may argue that the HMD Skyline’s alleged pricing is still on the expensive side, it does offer better value than the overpriced Nokia phones that HMD sold in the Philippines. Aside from the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 processor, the Skyline has a 144hz pOLED display, a filler-free triple rear camera setup that consists of a 108-megapixel main camera with OIS, 13-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and a 50-megapixel telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom, and 15w wireless charging.
Should HMD bring the Skyline to the Philippines and stick to the rumored price, we’re curious if the lower pricing will make their phones more palatable to Filipinos.
