Honor debuts Honor Play 8A in China

To go against Xiaomi’s Mi Play?

After it was teased a few days ago, Honor unveiled the Honor 8A as the Honor Play 8A. The new budget phone may carry the Play monicker, but it has no relation to last year’s Honor Play. Instead, it is more related to the entry-level Honor Play 7.

Going to the design, it has a two-toned back like the Honor 8X but has a single 13-megapixel f/1.8 camera and no fingerprint scanner. Up front, it has a waterdrop notch like the Honor 10 Lite, though it has a smaller size and a HD+ resolution.

For the internals, the Honor Play 8A has a Helio P35 processor paired with 3GB RAM and 32GB/64GB internal storage. Keeping the lights on is a 3020mAh battery with 10W charging via its USB-C port.

Based on its specs, the Honor Play 8A is the brand’s answer to Xiaomi’s Mi Play, which also uses a Helio P35 processor.

Honor Play 8A specs

The Honor Play 8A will be priced at around $119-$129, or around Php 6.3k to Php 6.8k when converted. No word yet on its availability.
