HUAWEI Finally Has its Own Gaming Laptop

After years of offering various laptops under its MateBook line, HUAWEI finally enters the gaming laptop space with the MateBook GT 14. It is heavier and thicker than the MateBook X Pro 2024, but the MateBook GT 14 has a few extra tricks up its sleeve.

While it technically shares the same internals as the MateBook X Pro 2024 that include up to a Core Ultra 9 185H, up to 2TB storage, and up to 32GB RAM, the MateBook GT 14 uses an overclocked processor that provides a 75w TDP under continuous load and up to 115w in short bursts.

Its wedge design allows the MateBook GT 14 to have a full-sized SD Card reader, two Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports, a headphone jack, two USB-A ports, and an HDMI 2.1 port, while its 14.2-inch OLED display has a 144hz refresh rate and a 2880×1920 resolution while retaining touchscreen support.

While the MateBook GT 14 is a gaming laptop, it does not have a discrete GPU. Instead, HUAWEI designed an external GPU for it with the WIKO Hi GT Cube. This eGPU has a Radeon RX7600M XT inside and packs a 240w power supply that can output up to 100w. It uses USB 4.0 instead of OcuLink, and has both DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.1 for display output.

The MateBook GT 14 starts at CNY 7499(~Php 61k) for the Core Ultra 5 with 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD, and goes up to CNY 10999(~Php 89k) for the Core Ultra 9 with 32GB RAM and 2TB SSD. The Hi GT Cube, on the other hand, is priced at CNY 3999(~Php 33k). If you want the full gaming setup, expect to spend approximately Php 122k.

There’s no word yet if Huawei will make the MateBook GT 14 available outside of China.
