Huawei Officially Launches Mate 8

Huawei Mate 8 01

Meet the company’s newest phablet

Huawei has officially taken the wraps off of their newest flagship today, the Mate 8. Building on the previous device, the Mate 8 sports a full metal, unibody build and is made from aerospace aluminum. Inside beats Huawei’s newest Kirin 950 octa-core processor composed of four high-power Cortext-A72 cores running at 2.3GHz and four power-saving Cortex-A53 cores running at 1.8GHz. There’s also an i5 coprocessor that the company says “supports speech recognition, low-power consumption MP3, functions of the sensor hub, fused location provider (FLP) navigation and reduces location-based power consumption”. That’s paired with 3GB/4GB of RAM and either 32GB/64GB/128GB of storage.

Huawei Mate 8 specs

The Mate 8 has a 6-inch display that’s disappointingly not QHD – it’s just full HD. The rear snapper is a 16-megapixel Sony IMX298 sensor, while the front camera sports an 8-megapixel unit. The phone sports Android Marshmallow 6.0 when it’s released with EMUI layered on top, and has a massive 4000mAh battery inside its sexy frame.

As far as pricing goes, the Mate 8 will be priced at $480 or Php 22.6K for the 3GB/32GB version, $590 or Php 27.8K for the 4GB/64GB version and $700 or Php 33K for the 4GB/128GB version.
