Huawei Y9s: First Shots

Take a look at the shots of Huawei’s Y9s!

Yesterday we unboxed Huawei’s first phone for this year: the Y9s. Aside from a design lifted straight from their flagship phone and a large display, the Y9s’ claim to fame is its triple camera array at the rear, headlined by a 48-megapixel camera.

But how does that camera fare in real life? Well, we took it out for a spin during the weekend – take a look at the photos below:

The 48-megapixel camera of the Y9s produces good photos, and Jamie’s portrait shot taken with the AI mode has excellent separation from the foreground and background.

The camera also has good performance in low light as well, though the wide-angle shooter does suffer a little bit in the same situations. That’s not surprising, as wide-angle shooters in other cameras have this problem as well.

Details do become a little softer when the sun goes down, and the phone’s camera has trouble with Dynamic Range in a few shots.

We’ll be taking more shots with the Huawei Y9s in the next few days and publishing our full review this week, so stay tuned till then.
