With the launch of the NOTE 50 series, Infinix went on a different approach by giving the entire line a premium build that’s highlighted by the use of a metal alloy frame–something that’s unheard of in phones priced at under Php 20k. For this comparison, we pit the NOTE 50 Pro against the Redmi Note 14 5G. While the latter has 5G connectivity and is more expensive, we’re curious to see how the NOTE 50 Pro would stack up against it. We’ve used both phones side-by-side for a week, and here are our findings:
Design
Without any question, the NOTE 50 Pro wins in this department with its more modern look that’s highlighted by the flat, boxy sides of its metal alloy frame–a rarity among budget phones. This makes the Redmi Note 14 5G’s look dated and a bit on the generic side.Â
When it comes to durability, it’s nice to know that both phones have an IP64 rating, so they’re safe against splashes and water jets. Both also have an IR blaster and stereo speakers, though the JBL tuning on the NOTE 50 Pro gives it an advantage in terms of audio quality. The NOTE 50 Pro also adds RGB lighting and a sensor for checking blood oxygen and heart rate, which is a nice addition for those who don’t want to use a separate wearable to monitor essential health stats.
Display
Both phones boast AMOLED displays with a Full HD+ resolution and an in-display fingerprint scanner, but the boxier look of the NOTE 50 Pro gives it slimmer bezels compared to the Redmi Note 14 5G. Comparing both phones side-by-side, we also noticed that the NOTE 50 Pro produces deeper blacks and is brighter overall compared to the Redmi Note 14 5G.
Aside from being a better display, the NOTE 50 Pro also benefits from a higher 144hz refresh rate that helps in offering a smoother UI experience.
Cameras
While both phones have an 8-megapixel ultrawide camera and OIS on the main camera, they differ with the sensor used for the main shooter. The Redmi Note 14 5G uses a 108-megapixel ISOCELL HM6, while the NOTE 50 Pro goes for the 50-megapixel ISOCELL GN5. Don’t be deceived by megapixels, as the one used by the NOTE 50 Pro is physically bigger at 1/1.57″ (vs 1/1.67″ with the ISOCELL HM6).
Having a bigger sensor means it can capture more light, and we proved that when we brought both phones for a photowalk around Intramuros. Even in good lighting situations, the NOTE 50 Pro produced more detailed photos than the Redmi Note 14 5G, along with having more accurate colors.
With indoor lighting situations, the NOTE 50 Pro also takes the lead over the Redmi Note 14 5G in terms of detail and preservation of highlights.
While it may appear that both phones use the same 8-megapixel sensor for the ultrawide camera, a closer look at the images taken show that the NOTE 50 Pro has better image processing over the Redmi Note 14 5G.
Aside from a better main camera, the NOTE 50 Pro offers more video recording options. Aside from the usual Full HD resolution at 30FPS, you can shoot at 60FPS or shoot at a higher 2K resolution. The same story applies with the selfie camera, as the NOTE 50 Pro’s 32-megapixel shooter has a bigger sensor compared to the 20-megapixel sensor used by the Redmi Note 5G.
Internals and Battery
While it may seem that the NOTE 50 Pro dominates over the Redmi 14 5G, the latter has the upper hand with its processor of choice. With benchmark numbers, the Redmi Note 14 5G’s Dimensity 7025 performs better than the NOTE 50 Pro’s Helio G100 in CPU performance–on top of the Redmi Note 14 5G being a 5G-ready device.
It’s not a landslide win for the Redmi Note 14 5G, as the NOTE 50 Pro has more RAM at 12GB, and feels more stable when running games since the Helio G100 uses a better GPU over the Dimensity 7025. They’re on even ground with 8GB RAM on board, but our experience tell otherwise: the NOTE 50 Pro felt more fluid than the Redmi Note 14 5G with day-to-day use.
While our battery benchmark results show that the Redmi Note 14 5G has better power efficiency than the NOTE 50 Pro, Infinix makes up for it with several charging features that are hard to find in its price segment. These include support for 90W wired charging, 30W wireless charging, and bypass charging if you intend to engage in long gaming sessions.
When it comes to battery capacity, both the Redmi Note 14 5G and NOTE 50 Pro are roughly at par with each other, but Infinix is using silicon-carbon tech that ensures you better overall battery durability.
Software
The NOTE 50 Pro has the upper hand here, as it comes with Android 15 out of the box unlike the Redmi Note 14 5G Â that still uses Android 14. Infinix has made big improvements with their XOS UI, and we’re happy to report that bloatware on the NOTE 50 Pro has been reduced compared to its predecessors.
When it comes to software updates, both are promised to get 2 major Android updates–but again, the NOTE 50 Pro gets better updates since it already has Android 15 out of the box, which is the latest version of Android currently available.
Price
The Redmi Note 14 5G has an official price of Php 13,999, while the Infinix NOTE 50 Pro is priced at Php 11,999. While you miss out on 5G connectivity, the NOTE 50 Pro has several advantages over the Redmi Note 14 5G. Aside from looking and feeling more premium overall, the NOTE 50 Pro is better than the Redmi Note 14 5G with its display, main camera, charging tech, and video recording capabilities.
